The site and its data are MIT-licensed. The prompts come with no warranty. The server is yours, and so is the bill. The rest of this page is that sentence with the edges filled in.

The site and the data

Code, page content, and the project data are released under the MIT licence. Copy it, run your own instance, build something else on top of it, keep the licence text with it. There is no scraping clause and no API key, because the whole dataset is in a public repository.

What we cannot relicense is somebody else's work. awesome-selfhosted's catalogue is CC-BY-SA and is used here as a lead list — a pointer to look at a project — never as a source of copied text. The provenance rules are on /methodology.

The prompts and the configs

Provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. A prompt marked as tested is a claim about one run, on one clean server, on a stated date, at a stated version. It is evidence, not a guarantee about your machine, your provider, or the version that shipped this morning.

You run these on infrastructure you control, under your own accounts, and you own the results. That includes the bills. A server nobody destroyed keeps charging. A service exposed to the internet is yours to close. A backup you did not take does not exist. Nobody here can see your server, and nobody here is on call for it.

To the fullest extent the law allows, there is no liability for any loss or damage arising out of using this site, its prompts, or its configuration files — including data loss, downtime, and hosting charges. If that trade is not acceptable for what you are about to run, do not run it. Read the prompt before you paste it; every one of them is printed in full on the page for exactly that reason.

Other people's names

Nothing on this site is affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any project, company, or hosting provider named on it. Product names, logos, and marks belong to their owners and are used here to identify software, which is the only thing they are used for. No affiliate links, no sponsorships, no paid placement.

Prices are read from the vendor's own page on a stated date and go stale between readings. The vendor's page wins, always. If you own a mark and want its use here changed, open an issue and it gets handled like any other correction.

Corrections

Every page is a file in a public repository, so a wrong fact is a diff. Use the issue templates for a correction, a broken prompt, or a project worth adding. There is no other channel and no queue behind this one.

One exception: if a prompt or config is dangerous rather than wrong, do not open a public issue. Use the private path on /security.

What this is not

• Not legal, security, tax, or financial advice.
• Not a managed service, and not support. There is no ticket queue.
• Not a quote. Savings figures are arithmetic on published list prices with the seat assumption stated next to them.
